"A civilization flourishes when people plant trees
under which they will never sit."

Halito,
I am Margie Kinnard, a Native CDIB Choctaw American and single mother of three wonderful children at ages 7, 10 and 18. Being a single parent is hard work but it is a special task. I don't recommend it but it is sometimes necessary. God has ordained the family to stay together as a unit and I encourage this in all situations, Jesus does change everything. I have had many struggles with being a solo Mom without getting child support. Most of us live paycheck to paycheck and it's always a fight to see what bill you will pay to keep the lights on. You learn to live without things for yourself just to pay for diapers. I must say that many times I do believe I had favor when a co-worker gave me $50.00 as a gift or the time I had a friend call and ask me to meet her, she had bags of groceries she gave me. These were the desperate times when I knew I had an angel watching out for me, and it was just these times that would give me hope that each day would get better. It did and now it's my turn to be your angel. I am proud to be a single Mom helping you today to give you hope for your tomorrow.

Connie Reisenbigler - My heritage is Cherokee/Chickasaw through mitochondrial DNA GeneTree. It has been a dream for years to start a charity and help parents in need. As a needy single Mother myself for most of my life, a gift of groceries, a bill paid, clothes or a scholarship for school would have been greatly appreciated. What I remember, during my most struggling time to feed and take care of my children, those that did offer me assistance I have never forgotten. Through my past hardships and now blessed life I can now Pay it Forward and that is my goal to lift up those in need so that they too can one day give back as well.

My family is of Cherokee descent. There was a time in my life when I had no idea how I would pay my utility bills, buy groceries, or even buy Christmas presents for my kids. It was a terrible time, I remember it like yesterday and will not forget that feeling. It seemed to go on forever, always something to set me back. My family helped all they could, although they really could not afford it. I was lucky to have wonderful friends who helped me (financially and emotionally) through those terrible times. I can never repay them for that kindness. Life's lessons teaches you to be humble.

I now enjoy helping others more, being more compassionate, and truly understand the meaning " down on your luck." Through this wonderful organization I can give back, and possibly help someone who is going through difficult times. If everyone would help others, think what a better place it would be. Vicki Tapp
